About me
Hi, I’m Selman. I’m an Electrical and Electronics Engineer who has worked in cybersecurity for many years, with a current focus on industrial systems, OT, and critical infrastructure security.
From engineering to OT security
I continued my academic path with a master’s degree in Cybersecurity. Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to work across different security disciplines, technologies, and kinds of problems. Today, industrial systems, Operational Technology (OT), and critical infrastructure security make up a significant part of my professional focus.
Learning how a technology is used matters, but my real curiosity usually begins one step later: Why does it work this way, why was it designed this way, and what problem does it actually solve? Those are the questions I pursue in my research and writing.
Outside work
The sea and sailing hold a special place in my life. From navigation and meteorology to mechanics and electronics, it is a world that always has something new to teach me. The fact that I can never quite say “I’ve learned it all” is what I enjoy most.
I also enjoy working with electronic circuits and microcontrollers, and occasionally designing my own boards. More recently, 3D design and printing joined that list. Camper travel, camping, journeys, and motorcycles bring my engineering curiosity together with a sense of freedom on the road. When I fail to get away from a screen, I may disappear into a match of Dota 2.
Why does this site exist?
For a long time, I wanted one place to collect what I learn, the experience I gain, the subjects that capture my interest, and some memories I may want to revisit years from now. If something I spent hours researching can make another person’s work easier in a few minutes, I believe it is worth sharing.
That is why I see this as more than a conventional blog. It is a personal digital notebook that can grow over time: a place to remember what I learn, share experience, preserve good memories, and let knowledge multiply through sharing.
AI and this blog
I actively use AI for research, organizing my thoughts, preparing visuals, and supporting the editorial process. The ideas, experiences, opinions, curiosities, and memories here are mine; AI is one of the tools I use to research, structure, and communicate them more clearly.
At times it acts as an editor, a research partner, or a way to turn a long-held idea into something real. I remain responsible for the final decisions about sources, accuracy, security, and privacy.
What will you find here?
The main themes will naturally be cybersecurity, OT/ICS, industrial systems, networking, and engineering. But you may also find something I learned at sea, a small electronics project, a problem solved with a 3D printer, a travel story, or research into a completely different subject.
